Own it Yourself
Bedazzled (2000)
Elliot Richards is the kind of guy who blends into the background. He is awkward, eager to please, and hopelessly smitten with his co-worker, Alison Gardner. But his attempts to win her affection are met with indifference, leaving him wishing for a miracle. Enter the Devil—draped in red, charming, and ready to strike a deal. Seven wishes in exchange for his soul. What could possibly go wrong?
At first, Elliot is thrilled. He wishes for wealth and power, only to find himself a feared Colombian drug lord whose wife despises him. He asks to be sensitive and romantic, but ends up so emotionally fragile that he spends his days weeping over sunsets. Each wish brings him closer to Alison, yet further from happiness, as the Devil twists his desires into cruel jokes.
As Elliot stumbles through his misadventures—becoming a towering basketball star, an intellectual genius, and even the President—he begins to realize that happiness isn’t something that can be wished into existence. In a final act of selflessness, he makes a wish not for himself, but for Alison’s happiness, breaking the Devil’s hold over him.
The film features the talented Brandon Frazer and the amazing Elizabeth Hurley. I particularly love the costumes Elizabeth uses ...
And, of course, the cheerleader one too ...
