The Serious Stuff
When designing this website, I decided to build it in two broad sections, the serious and the fun. In the serious section I write about real science and its many wonders. I have tried to capture popular science, as well as some of my personal interests, such as astronomy. The menu on the left shows you the topics to choose from!
In addition to writing about real science, I have taken a leap to linking the science of science fiction to real science. For example time travel has some real science behind it, namely relativity. It's not like the Doctor Who TARDIS, where it's complete fantasy. Real science tells us that time does move at a constant rate, it can vary depending on the physical circumstances and there are real experiments that show this. Another example is the mobile communicator, as seen on the original Star Trek long before the invention of the mobile phone. In essence science fiction show what might, maybe, one day become as common as a motor car or aeroplane.
You may wonder why history appears on the menu on the left. I believe one of the aims of life is to continually learn from those that went before us and so I have included this new found personal interest, mainly due to the marvelous Lucy Worsley and Mary Beard.
If you have any suggestions for additional topics for the serious section, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and let me know. If you want to find out more, then the best way (in my view) is over a good book, my recommended books are worth taking some time to browse through, there are many treasures waiting there!
