Peter Davison

PETER DAVISON

Peter Cushing

PETER CUSHING

Paul McGann's film was not the first for Doctor Who. Peter Cushing made two excellent feature films, Doctor Who and the Daleks and Dalek Invasion Earth 2150AD. Both highly recommended.

Paul McGann

PAUL McGANN

The last feature film created in 1996 was a huge success in the UK but unfortunately failed to inspire the Americans. Paul McGann tried to show the Doctor’s sensitive side.Paul McGann played the Doctor as more human with a childlike playfulness coupled with an infectious zest for life and adventure.

John Hurt

JOHN HURT

John Hurt played a surprise role as the War Doctor, a regeneration that the Doctor had tried to forget. John Hurt's special episode focused on the Time War and the War Doctor's role within it, "The Day of the Doctor" featured both David Tennant and Matt Smith.

Christopher Eccleston

CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON

Doctor Who finally returned to our television screens (at long last) with the Doctor being played by Christopher Eccleston. It was sad that Christopher Eccleston only did one season. Christopher Eccleston played the Doctor as an emotionally scarred after the events of the Time Wars.

David Tennant

DAVID TENNANT

After the fantastic success of the first series we had an excellent replacement with David Tennant, who completed several seasons and Christmas specials.David Tennant played the Doctor as an empathetic, confident and quirky character with a real zest for adventure.

Matt Smith

MATT SMITH

Matt Smith's Doctor was the most youthful looking Doctor of all with an excitable childlike personality which can give the impression that he is not as powerful and dangerous as he really was, in some cases he was quite ruthless. He also had a bit of a thing about bow ties.

Peter Capaldi

PETER CAPALDI

Peter Capaldi played the Doctor as an older, sterner character. He is tougher round the edges, but still ultimately trying to be a good person. Much more like the older Doctors. What was particularly sad is that such a talentedf actor was given such terrible scripts. Peter Capaldi could have been one of the best Doctors if he had not been let down by the writers.

Jodie whittaker

JODIE WHITTAKER

What can I say? She is unlike anything that has come before and with crashing audience numbers will always be remebered as the one that brought down Dr Who, due to the combination of dreadful writing and bad acting.
